Jacob Warford to Rev'd. Joseph Gaetry
Be it remembered that on the fourteenth day of December A.D. 1870 at
half past eleven o'clock a certain paper writing was duly registered as
follows:
This indenture made the 25th day of October in the year of our Lord and
to said eight hundred and sixty five between Jacob Warford of Lance Cove
Hopewell of the one part and Rev Joseph Gaetry Weslayen Minister of Topsail
of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jacob Warford for and in consideration
of the sum of one shilling sterling to him the said Jacob Warford should
well and truly paid the receipt whichof is hereby acknowledged th the
said Jacob Warford hath granted bargained and sold to Rev Joseph Gaetry
Weslayan Minister of Topsail a piece of land for Church purposed situate
at Lance Cove (Hopewell) measuring in length three hundred and four feet
and in the breadth sixty one feet rounded as follows on the north by main
road on the West by Richard Porter and on the South and East by Jacob
Warford, the vestry of the Church being two feet further out than land
first given. I now freely give the land on which the Vestry is erected
in Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand Jacob Warford his mark Witness
Joseph Gaetry William Covedock his mark William Scott his mark Samuel
Dawe his mark ____ In the Province of Nova Scotia___Towit Joseph Gaetry
of Lunenburg in the saed Province of Nova Scotia Wesleyan Minister the
grantee named in the Bill of Sale on the other side hereof written purporting
to be a Bill of Sale or conveyance of certain land by Jacob Warford to
the said Joseph Gaetry maketh oath and saith that he was present on teh
day of the date of the said Bill of Sale and did see the said Jacob Warford
sign the said Bill of Sale by putting his mark thereto and that before
the said Jacob Warford so signed the said Bill of Sale the same was read
over and explained to and the purport and ruling(?) thereof understood
by the said Jacob Warford Joseph Gaetry Sworn before us at Lunenburg in
the Province of Nova Scotia this twenty fifth day of October A.D. 1870

Joseph Gaetry now in Lunenburg in the Province of nova Scotia this fifth

William Coveduck had a daughter Elizabeth who married a Warford. She had
two sons John and Henry. Jacob Warford is thought to be a grandson of
William Coveduck.

Be it remembered that on the 11th day of April A.D. 1934 at 12:30 o'clock
p.m. a certain Conveyance was deposited for registration which was proved
upon the certificate of F.R. Ferneux, which was duly registered as follows:
Deed of Gift. To all people unto whom these presents shall come. I, Charles
Warford of Lance Cove in the District of Harbor Main in the Dominion of
Newfoundland, Farmer do send greeting: Know you that I the said Charles
Warford for divers good cause and valuable consideration me hereunto moving,
have given, granted and by these presents do give, grant and confirm unto
my son George Frederick Warford the undermentioned property which he is
to take possession of at my death viz: dwelling house goods and chattels,
stable, cellar, all my agricultural implements and loose gear about the
place and all my cleared and uncleared land except six acres I give to
my son Edward Thomas- The land that all my erections are on is bounded
on the North by William H. Warford, South by the Main road leading to
Holyrood, East by William Robert
Warford and west by George Warford, Also a piece of cleared land situated
Lawrence's Pond bounded on the East by Peter Coates, West by the late
Noah Dawe's land, North by the road and south by the late William Warford's
land. Also one half of that piece of woodland situated in Lance Cove containing
twelve acres which is to be divided equally between my son George frederick
and my son Edward Thomas. The said land is bounded on the North by the
pond. South by the main road leading to Holyrood East by Abram Morgan
of Edward and west by William Harvey - To have and to hold all and singular
the above mentioned property of methe said Charles Warford unto the said
George Frederick Warford his heirs executors, administrators and assigns
from henceforth to his own proper use and uses to thereof with all paths
passages, water, watercourses, rights, priveleges and appurtenances, of
all which premises I the said Charles Warford have put the said George
Frederick Warford in full and peaceable possession by virtue hereof. In
witness whereof I thesaid Charles Warford have hereunto set my hand and

In the name of God Amen. I George Frederick Warford resident of Upper
Gullies in the Deistric of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, farmer
being of sound mind but sick in body do hereby make my last will and testament.
I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah my house and land which is located
in Upper Gullies and all my other estate real and personal I leave to
her also. If my wife Sarah wishes to give part of my estate to my only
daughter Frances Dawe she may do so of her own accord.
In witness thereof I have hereunder set my hand this 25th day of July,
nineteen hundred and seventy seven in the presence of Reg and Laura Haines
