Seal Cove 1884 Census

According to the 1884 census there were 117 inhabitants of Seal Cove. All were Church of England faith. There were twenty married males and twenty-one families living in the community. Twenty-one persons were occupied in the catching and curing of fish, while four were classified as farmers. The economy of the community would perhaps be best illustrated by examining some statistics for that year:

Quantity of oil produced: 147 gals.
