Sardis Church, 10 miles north from Newnan, near the Hogan home between the Ferrell and Byram homes was constituted in 1848, with 13 members. In the next twelve years the church grew to 41 members. The pastors were Rev. Geo. E. Daniel 1 year; Rev Thos. Phillips, 2; Rev. J. S. Dodd, 2; Rev. John M. Key, 2; Rev. J. A. Smith 1; Rev. M. B. Robinson, 6; The messengers to the association from time to time were Conly T. Wellborn, Solomon Zellars, P. H. Hesterly, Samuel F. Astin, Wesley Dunkin, Joseph Edison, Thomas P. Dean, and Seaborn Phillips.

In 1862 the church was moved to Campbell Co…..Palmetto, on the Palmetto and Hutcheson Ferry road, just across the road from its present location.

This church found a tender place in the heart of the writer. Their Christ like fellowship will ever be remembered. He is glad that he was permitted to serve them as pastor for a few years.
