HISTORY OF FREEOUF AND ZEMAN FAMLIES


Joseph Freeouf was born November 25, 1857 in Bohemia (now Czechoslovakia). He came to America in 1871 with his parents, two brothers, one sister in 1871 when he was 14 years old. They came to Wilber, NE and settled on a farm west of Wilber. Joseph worked for a farmer by the name of Coats near Pleasant Hill, then bought 80 acres near his brother's farm west of Wilber.

He married Anna Zeman on May 23, 1880 and lived on the farm until 1891 when they moved further west, closer to Pleasant Hill and Dorchester. Their last son, Frank, was born there. Their other children, Lewis, Stephen, Joe, Gustav, Adolph, and Albina were born on the first farm. A baby boy older than Adolph died when three days old. Lewis died in 1903; Mother died November 30, 1941; Father died May 30, 1948; Gus died March 31, 1951; Adolph died June 8, 1963; Joe died March 29, 1964.

Joe and Teresa Zeman came to America in 1877 from Milirove, Tabarske Cechy, Bohemia (now Czechoslovakia). Teresa's maiden name was Blaha. She was born June 22, 1836, don't know when Joe Zeman was born. She died January 10, 1918; he died in 1924. They came to Wilber to Teresa's Aunt John Novak's, then to friend's west of Wilber by the name of Duba. Later to their own farm further west and closer to Milligan. They had three daughters, 3 sons when they came to America. Anna, the second daughter, was your grandmother. Later they had another daughter and son born to them. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in November, 1909, in Wilber after they retired from the farm.

Anna Zeman married Joseph Freeouf May 23, 1880 at her sister's home west of Wilber. Anna was born January 16, 1861. They lived on a farm further west until 1891 when they moved further west closer to Dorchester and Pleasant Hill. Their last son, Frank, was born there. Their other children were Lewis, Stephen, Joe, Gustav, Adolph and Albina. A baby son was born before Adolph and died when three days old. Their oldest son, Lewis, died August 29, 1903. They lived on this farm until 1911 then moved to Wilber. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on May 23, 1930; their 60th on May 23, 1940. Anna died November 30, 1941; Joseph died May 30, 1948; Gustav died March 31, 1951; Adolph died June 8, 1963; Joseph died March 29, 1964.
