PENNINGTON, ISABELLA MARY EDGAR (ELLA)
Ella Harvey was born about 1885, the daughter of Nurse Katrina Harvey
For 21 years Ella assisted her mother in their maternity home at 1 Victoria St, Hawera until her mother's death in 1930. She then married John Pierpoint Pennington in 1933.
An active worker for many semi-public bodies, Ella was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends. She was a staunch parishioner in support of St Mary's Anglican Church and a loyal worker for numerous church institutions.
In conjunction with Dorothy Atmore she assisted with the catering for the Egmont Sheep Dog Trial Club annual trials, a somewhat arduous undertaking but one from which Ella derived considerable pleasure. Similarly, she was associated with the voluntary staff who for many years undertook the catering for the Egmont A & P summer show.
She was also a member of the Ramanui Women's Institute and served as a member of the committee.
Ella Pennington died in New Plymouth while on holiday on the 1 March 1941 aged 56 years, and is buried at Hawera cemetery.
