William O’Neal

Born:        10 Jun 1818, Prob Rowan Co, NC

Married:   Lucretia Caisey on 17 Jul 1844

Died:        10 Feb 1897  Harrison Co, MO

William O’Neal was born in June of 1818, most likely in the Northwest Corner of present day Davie County, NC (Rowan County in 1818), near the border of Iredell County.

In 1844, William married Lucretia Casey, the daughter of David Casey.  William and Lucretia had two sons and a daughter:

·         Mary Ann O’Neal  ( b: 1845, Davie Co, NC )

·         William Henry O’Neal  ( b: 1846, Davie Co, NC )

·         John O’Neal  ( b: 1849, Henry Co, IN )

At present, one of my challenges in my genealogy research is to establish proof of who William’s father is.   I have several candidates, of which John O’Neal appears to be the most likely. 

I’ve developed a large amount of circumstantial evidence as to whom William’s fater is, but no proof.  A summary of my theories regarding William’s father and the relationships between other O’Neal families found in the Rowan and Davie County area in the early and mid 1800’s can be found here.  ( .pdf file )
