Transcriptions are done on a spreadsheet to the FreeCEN format. Any mainstream spreadsheet program can be used. Help is given to volunteers at all times. Checkers will be provided with a special checking program to assist in the checking process. The years 1841 to 1871 are CD based - you do not need a fiche reader to participate. The 1891 images are on microfiche so you will need access to a microfiche reader to participate. . |

The 1851 part of the project has not yet commenced. The images have been ordered but we understand that there is a significant delay in their supply. We will make 1851 images available for transcription as soon as they are received. |

The 1881 census has been transcribed by the LDS and is available to search for free on their site. |

We are actively seeking transcribers and checkers for 1891. Whilst several pieces have been transcribed and published on FreeCEN we need checkers and transcribers with access to microfiche readers urgently for this year.
