Christmas O'Mary of Winston County, Alabama. The Isham H. Bennett listed in
the letter below married Elizabeth "Bettie" White on 6 Dec 1821 in

August 27th 1884
Dear Uncle Tom
I received your kind and interesting letter and was so rejoyest to hear from
you once more. I had red about so many storms that had past through that way I had
spent many sad and uneasy hour thinking I never would hear from you again. I
wrote last March and in 15 days I received the leter back again and I sealed it
and directed it again and I have just received answer and was exceedingly glad.
it is purfect hapness for me to send a letter to one who has such bright hope
of heaven. times is very hard out here tho we have not suferd yet. my little
ones are all sitting around asking who Im writing to. when I tole them they
wishes they could see you they rekon you are like pa.
they are all well except colds we have been best in health so far. I have a
very good crop of corn not much cotton. I believe the connection are very well
and doing well as far as I know. I cannot tell eny thing about John an Wm.
Paschell. I have seen Wm. one time since I was married about 7 years ago. I do
not know where either of them live but i will try and find out and write you in
the next letter. and my mother was name elizabeth
bennett. she was the daughter of Isham H. Bennett and his wife Bettie
White. she was sister to John White. I recon he was county clerk and redgester
of deeds. Mabe when you were out about 25 or 30 years ago. it was before I
could remeber and her farther was name Billie White.
Pa was to see me a just one day before I received your letter I have not seen
him since. I will send you letter to him to read. he ask about you every time I
see him. we have had rite meny protracted meetings about this summer have very
good preaching but very few converts. I reckon you think I am rather
inquisitive but please write me whether you are Methosdist or babtis. I do wish
I could see you all. I tell me nosey nieghbor G.W. Rookes I think you and him
are just alike. You write just like he talks. he is a very old man and I think
is a good Christian. I get him or his wife to direct all letters to you that I
write and I reckon you think I ought to get them. I write the letter as I make
____ of ____out at it myself. Tell your childrenall to write to me if they
would condescend to read such scribling as I have to write. I would be very
much pleased to read a letter from them. Uncle Tom
please send me the pictures of your self and family. please send yours if you can
not send the rest. if you haven't one taking pleas do have one taking and send
it in your next letter.
Well I must close by asking you please write very soon and excuse all mistakes
and bad writing and please remember me and my little children in your prayrs.
May the Lord be with us all now and take us home to heaven.
