Chattanooga, Tenn
November 24 1862
Dear wife
I myself to rite you a few lines to let you know how we are getting a long. We
are at Chattanooga now. we have not got to our c.o. yet we here that they have
gone to Murfresborough. I don't know no when we will get there. I have seen a
ruff time since I left home Tho I am wel as common. I hope that you and the
children are wel. I saw Thos. Ward, N.C. Allen and Charles Smith this morning
all in the hospittle. Clem is mending and Ward is verry low. I think we may get
off from here today maby. We got here yesterday evening. we staid at Dalton
knight before last. I am sorry to think how lone some I left you. it is hard to
have to leave home as I did leave. No one to stay with you. I hope you are
better off now. Give my respects to inquiring friends. I hope the Lord wil
bless you and the children forever and help in every time of need.
