Reidesville, Tennessee
Dec. the 11th 1862
Dear father and mother
I Again take my pen in hand to drop you A few lines to let you no that I am
well hoping those lines may find you all well. I marched 3 days through the
snow and mud ___ ___ ____ it was bad marching. Though I stood it verry well. I
toted this blanket all the way. I dont no whether we will have to fight or not.
I want to here from you all verry bad. I havent herd from you since thomas came. I have made mother 2 pipes and I will
send them. Mr. Janes Daniel Jones leaves here to day. I dont no when I will get
to come home. I dont no whether I will get to come until the ware is ended or
not. I dont no how long we will stay here. I dont no where we will go from
here. I hope we will go to chattanooga. I am on gard to day. we see hard times
but I hope the time will soon come when we can all come home. I hant herd from
Issac yet. tel all the girls that I think long of the time that I dont see
them. Tell them I am in the notion to marry if I ever get home. rite and tel me
all the news in old carroll.
I must close by saying I remain your sun until death.
