Camp near Dalton, Georgia
February the 8th 1864
Dear Sister
I seat my self to drop you a few lines to let you no that I am well. Hopeing
these lines may find you well. Thomas is well and doing as well as could be
expected. Times is hard here. Elizabeth, I was glad to hear that you hat got
Tommy to live with you. Lizzy, I want to see you mity bad, but I am afraid it
will be a long time before I get to come. Elizabeth, I have picked me out
another sweethart that is a heep prettyer and a heep sweeter than the river
girl is. You may want to know what her _____ is ____ ____ _____. and if I end
until this war ends, I will have her or dy. If I can not have her I _____ did
love her better than any girl I ever saw in my life and not marry. I love her
___ for ____ that I ____ love of some of the girls _____ ______ _____ ______
_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ ______. Give my best love and respects to ______
______ and Elizabeth especially. Write soon and often.
