Roscoe Conklin Seward was the youngest of Francis and Phebe's children. He was born 8 December, 1862 in Madison County, Indiana. After the death of his father he, his mother and his older brothers Obadiah and David moved to Rice County, Kansas.

Roscoe and Hettie Ann Bohrer were married 13 May, 1883 at Cincinnati, Kansas (close to present-day Lyons). The family lived for a while in Missouri where Roscoe worked as a drayman then returned to Rice County where they lived on a farm. Roscoe and Hettie separated in 1914 and he wandered for a while, visiting relatives in various parts of the country. He eventually returned to Wichita where he spent his last years in the company of his son and his son's family.

Roscoe Conklin died in Wichita, Kansas 24 January, 1938 and is buried in Old Mission Cemetery there.


"He loved horses and mules and kept them fat as butter, and groomed until they looked like show horses. He was a farmer and most of his life worked at this occupation, though for a few years he worked in the fruit orchards while he was in California. . ." quote from his daughter, Gail Vernelle Wood



Hettie Ann Bohrer was the daughter of Dr. Godfrey Bohrer and his wife Bethania (Boggess) Bohrer. She was born 13 April, 1862 in Alexandria, Indiana. She died in Chase, Rice County, Kansas on 12 April, 1933 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery at Lyons, Kansas.
