AMBROSE SODEN JR, HAMILTON TWP, NJ

Ambrose Soden -  Services for Ambrose Soden of 373 Miller Avenue, Hamilton Township, who died Thursday, will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the Cellini Funeral Home,  931 Princeton Avenue.  The Rev. William Nelson of Clinton Avenue Baptist Church will officiate.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m.


AMBROSE SODEN SR, 60, TRENTON, NJ

Ambrose Soden, SR -  Ambrose Soden, Sr., 60 years old,  husband of the late Mary Anna Soden, died last night at St. Francis Hospital after a five week illness.  He was employed as a machinist by the Trent Tile Company for the past 27 years. He held membership in Century Council No. 100,  Jr; O. U. A. M.

Surviving him are four daughters,  Mrs. Jeannette McGloughlin, of Philadephia;  Mrs. Malvine Asay and Mrs. Carrie Sourer, of this city,  and Mrs. Julius Scarborough, of Atlantic City;  three sons,  Louis M., Albert, and Ambrose, Jr., and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at the home of his son,  Louis M. Soden,  20 Sweets Avenue, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Services will be conducted by the Rev. W. J. Sayre, pastor of St. Paul M. E. Church.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery under direction of Frank J. Ullrich & Sons, Inc.


AMELIA ERTL SODEN, 54, TRENTON, NJ

MRS. AMELIA E. SODEN -  Mrs. Amelia Ertl Soden, widow of Louis M. Soden,  died yesterday at her home, 20 Sweets Avenue, following a brief illness.  She is survived by two sons,  Sergeant Frederick Soden who is with the Army in Austria and James of Trenton;  two daughters,  Mrs. Anthony Scarlata and Mrs. Charles Brown;  three brothers,  John and Joseph Ertl of Trenton and Frederick of Morrisville;  a sister,  Mrs. Marie Shipley and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock from her home.  Requiem high mass will be celebrated in St. Francis Church at 9 o'clock and interment will be at the convenience of the family under direction of F. J. Ullrich & Sons.

MRS. AMBROSE SODEN, JR. -  Mrs. Anna B. Soden,  wife of Ambrose Soden, Jr., of 1715 Seventh Avenue, Prospect Heights,  died yesterday at her home following a long illness.  She was 41 years of age.

The funeral will be from her home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Services will be conducted by the Rev. Howard G. Miller, rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, under direction of Poulson & Van Hise.

Mrs. Soden was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Prospect Heights Volunteer Fire Company and of the Mercer County Ladies Auxiliary.  In addition to her husband,  she leaves four daughters,  Mrs. Frank Wayne and Helen, Doris and Betty Soden;  two sons,  Edward and Thomas Soden;  her mother,  Mrs. Ida Hyde,  and two brothers,  Edward and Delvon Hyde.

CARRIE SODEN SAUER, 71, TRENTON, NJ

MRS. GEORGE SAUER -  Mrs. Carrie Sauer, 71, wife of George Sauer, died yesterday at her home,  90 Sweets Avenue,  following a brief illness.  In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons,  Clarence and Albert Gibson;  two daughters,  Mrs. George Stoddard of Utica, N.Y. (nee Helen B. Gibson)  and Mrs. John McGlone, Trenton (nee Marguerite Gibson);  two sisters,  Mrs. Julia Scarborough of Philadelphia (nee Julia Soden), and Mrs. Malvina Asay of Trenton (nee Melvina Soden);  eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty,  Council No. 20.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of her son-in-law and daughter,  Mr. and Mrs. John McGlone,  257 Clay Street.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery under direction of Edward J. Douress.

George Sauer, 80, of 435 Emory Avenue, husband of the late Carrie Sauer, died Saturday in St. Francis Hospital.  He was a member of the Trenton Aerie of Eagles, Uncas Tribe 102 of Red Men and Uncas Haymakers.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John McGlone (nee Marguerite Gibson)  a niece, Mrs. Lillian Sharpe,  four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Douress Funeral Service, 325 Centre Street.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may call tomorrow evening.

MILDRED GIBSON - BRICKTOWN - Mrs. Mildred S. Dempster Gibson, 83, formerly of Mantoloking Road, died yesterday in Point Pleasant Hospital after a brief illness.  Born in Trenton, she was a resident of West Mantoloking for 25 years.  She was the wife of the late Albert A. Gibson (who was the son of Carrie Soden Gibson Sauer) and is survived by one son, Albert J. Gibson of Hialeah, Fla; two granddaughters, Mrs. Greta Samier of Hialeah, Fla., and Mrs. Jean Grochala of Morrisville, Pa., and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hofmann of New York City and Mrs. Delphina Miller of Rocktown;  one brother, John Dempster, retired Mercer County Fire Marshal, of Trenton; several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Knott Funeral Home, 2946 South Broad Street, with the Rev. Edward R. Cook of Grace Saint Paul Episcopal Church officiating.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. 

    TRENTON TIMES, FRIDAY, 13 MAY 1955

ALBERT A. GIBSON - WEST MANTOLOKING - Albert A. Gibson, 65, former Trenton resident who worked for 32 years at the State Police warehouse in West Trenton, died last night in Jersey Shore Hospital, Point Pleasant Beach. He was the husband of Mrs. Mildred Sophia Dempster Gibson.  Born in Trenton, (the son of Carrie Soden Gibson Sauer) Mr. Gibson lived there until he moved to West Mantoloking seven years ago.  He was a civilian employee of the State Police until he was retired 15 months ago because of illness.  He is survived by a son, Albert J. of Morrisville;  two granddaughters;  two sisters, Mrs. Helen Stoddard of Utica, N.Y. (nee Helen B. Gibson married George Stoddard) and Mrs. Marguerite McGlone (nee Marguerite Gibson married John McGlone) of Trenton; a brother, Clarence Gibson of Trenton and several nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Knott Funeral Home, 1055 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton.  The Rev. Olin G. Lager of Grace Episcopal Church will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Trenton.  Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.

    The funeral of Mrs. Gertrude H. Soden, wife of Albert N. Soden, who died yesterday following a long illness, will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from her late home, 346 Walnut Avenue.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family under direction of Poulson & Van Hise.  She was 46 years old and besides her husband is survived by one daughter, Edith, and three sons, Lester, Arthur and Ralph Soden.

HENRIETTA SODEN, 73, TRENTON, NJ

MRS. HENRIETTA SODEN -  The funeral of Mrs. Henrietta Soden, widow of Robert R. Soden, who died Saturday, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon from the home of her daughter,  Mrs. Gertie Beers,  355 Garfield Avenue.  Services will be held at 2 o'clock in Trinity Methodist Church.  The Rev. Charles H. Elder, the pastor, will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery,  under direction of Poulson & Coleman.  Mrs. Soden was 73 years old.  Death was due to infirmities of age, followed by a lingering illness.  She was a member of Starry Flag Temple No. 6, O. U. A., and was for many years a member of Trinity Church.


JOHN LIPCSEY, 58, EWING TWP, NJ

JOHN LIPCSEY -  John Lipcsey, 58, of 1715 Seventh Street, Ewing Township, died Saturday in Helene Fuld Hospital.  A lifelong resident of Trenton,  he had been employed by the American Biltrite Co. of Trenton.

Husband of the late Helen Soden Lipcsey,  he is survived by two daughters,  Mrs. Barbara Ayres and Miss Charlene Lipcsey,  both of Ewing Township;  his mother, Mrs. Veronica Lipcsey of Trenton;  four brothers,  Alexander of Hamilton Square,  Joseph of Florence and Stephen and Nicholas, both of Trenton;  one grandson and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Rogers Funeral Home,  929 South Clinton Avenue.  Requiem high mass will be celebrated by 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.


LOUIS M. SODEN, 48, TRENTON, NJ

LOUIS M. SODEN - Louis M. Soden, 48 years old, husband of Amelia Ertl Soden,  died yesterday after a lengthy illness at his home,  20 Sweets Avenuse.  Retired since 1938,  he was formerly a machinist.

In addition to his wife,  survivors include two sons,  Fred and James Soden;  two daughters,  Mrs. Anthony Scarlata and Miss Dorothy Soden;  one grandchild, and two brothers,  Albert and Ambrose Soden,  all of Trenton.

The funeral will be held from his home on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, with services by Rev. Samuel E. Arendt, of the Church of the Open Door.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, under direction of Leo M. Ullrich.

AMBROSE SODEN -  The funeral of Mary Anna Soden, wife of Ambrose Soden,  took place this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from her late home,  151 Houghton Avenue,  with services at 2 o'clock in Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church.  The church services were conducted by the Rev. Charles H. Elder.  Interment was made in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Poulson & Coleman.  Mrs. Soden died Wednesday.  She was 35 years of age.

DEBORAH GASKILL - Mrs. Deborah Gaskill, of Hopewell, widow of Samuel Gaskill and former Trenton resident, who died yesterday following a brief illness at McKinley Hospital, will be buried from the Church Home, 77 Prospect Street, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. SODEN INFANT - Thomas W. Soden, infant son of Thomas W. Sr and Catherine Malkowski Soden, of 207 Irven Street, Ewing Township, died Tuesday in McKinley Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Catherine and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Malkowski, and Ambrose Soden.

Funeral services were held today at the Winowicz Funeral Chapel,  865 Brunswick Avenue, with the Rev. James A. McAllister of Slackwood Presbyterian Church officiating.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.

IDA S. GALEA, 79, EAST BRUNSWICK

Mrs. Ida S. Galea, 79, of East Brunswick died yesterday in the Sayreville home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Rispoli.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave., South River.

Burial will follow at (Washington) Monumental Cemetery, South River.

Mrs. Galea was born in Trenton and lived in South River before moving to East Brunswick 12 years ago.

Also surviving are a son,  Michael;  three daughters,  Mrs. Ruth Ziegler,  Mrs. Toni Klich and Peggy Christensen;  a brother,  Thomas Soden;  two sisters,  Mrs. Doris Nerwinski and Mrs. Betty Neuls, and seven grandchildren.

   The funeral of Harry G. Beers, who died Saturday morning from Typhoid-pneumonia, after an illness of four weeks, will be held from his late home, at Slackwood, Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.  Services will be conducted in Bethany Presbyterian church by the Rev. Linius L.    Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Beers, widow of Harry S. Beers, who died today after a long illness, will be held at the home of her son-in-law, Harry J. Gorman, 222 Park Lane, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, under direction of Poulson & Van Hise.  Mrs. Beers was 59 years old and leaves two daughters, Mrs. H. J. Gorman and Miss Leola Beers; a grandson, Harry J. Gorman Jr., four sisters,  Mrs. Julia (nee Soden) Scarborough of Atlantic City, and Mrs. Melvina (nee Soden) Asay,  Mrs. George Sauer (nee Carrie Soden) and Mrs. William J. McLaughlin (nee Janetta Soden) of Philadelphia, and a brother, Ambrose Soden.  She was a member of Capital City Council No. 20, Sons and Daughters of Liberty and Ladies Auxiliary No. 18, of Garfield Camp No. 4, Sons of Union Veterans.

   Mrs. Leola Mayer, Was N. J. Employe (Daughter of Gertrude Soden Beers)

 Mrs. Leola Beers Mayer, 64, of 27 North Clinton Avenue, died Saturday in Mercer Hospital after a long illness.  A member of Trinity Cathedral, she was employed for over 25 years at the Department of Labor and Industry, Unemployment Security Interstate Division.  She was born in Trenton and resided here all of her life.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Judith L. Fleming of Pennington; a son, Robert W. Mayer of Yardville Heights;  a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Gorman of Morrisville; two granddaughters and one grandson.  Funeral services will be held from the Saul Memorial Home, 1740 Greenwood Avenue at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.  Burial office will be offered at All Saint's Chapel of Trinity Cathedral at noon.  The Very Rev. Dean Lloyd Chattin will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.  Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Trinity Cathedral.

Aged Englishtown Man Dead.  Gilbert M. Soden of Englishtown died Sunday of last week from rheumatism, complicated with other diseases.  He was 73 years old.  Mr. Soden leaves a widow and seven children,  Belva, Ethel, Fanny, Gilbert, James, Aaron and George.

YARDELY, Pa. - Martha Jane Soden, 62, died Wednesday at St. Agnes Hospital, Philadephia.  Born in Yardley, she was a lifelong area resident.  Mrs. Soden was a nurse's aide at Pickering Manor Home in Newtown and a member of Squad 100 of Yardley-Makefield Ambulance Squad.  She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Knowles-Doyle Post 317.  

    She is survived by her husband, Thomas Soden;  a son, Dwayne Soden of Levittown;  a daughter, Karen M. Ryan of Yardley;  her mother, Elsie Van Hart of Yardley;  four brothers, Alfred Van Hart of Fallsington, Arthur F. Jr. and Merle Van Hart of Fairless Hills and William Van Hart of Levittown;  two sisters, Myrtle Lauver and Susan Root of Morrisville; and two grandchildren. 

    Funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Ave., Yardley.  Entombment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem.  Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

ROBERT A. SODON, 70, of Leonardo, MIDDLETOWN, died Friday at home.  He was president of Sodon's Electric, Inc., and continued working until his death.  He was former officer of the National Electric Contractors Association.  He graduated from Leonardo High School in 1950. He served in the Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of the Beacon Hill Country Club, where he served on the board of directors.  He was a member of the Leni Lenape Sportsman's Club.  He was also a member of the Middletown Township Appeals Board and the Middletown Lion's Club.  He was past president, former captain and life member of the Navesink Fire Company.  He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church, Atlantic Highlands.  Born in Highlands, he was a lifelong resident of the Shore area.  

    He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Sodon McLaughlin; and his parents, Walter P. and Mary Donnelly Sodon.  Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Rosemary Verdicchio Sodon, who was his high school sweetheart;  a son and daughter-in-law, Walter P. and Susan A. Sodon of Locust; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Steven Mago of Belford, Middletown, and Nance and Michael Ciasca of Atlantic Highlands;  a brother, John W. Sodon of Locust;  three sisters and two brothers-in-law,  Nancy and John Hueston of Haines City, Fla.,  Helen and George H. Black of Blairstown, and Lois Dashkavich of Middletown; and eight grandchildren,  Robert W., Thomas W. and Melissa A. Sodon,  Steven, Nicole, Matthew and Andrew Mago, and Cristiana Ciasca. 

    Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at John P. Condon Funeral Home, 804 State Highway 36, Leonardo.  Prayers will be said 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, Atlantic Highland.  Interment will be in mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GI Esophageal Cancer Research Fund, Attention David Kelsen, 1275 York Ave., Room H918, new York, NY 10021,  the VNA of Central Jersey, Attention Development Office, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701, or St. Agnes Church, 103 Center Ave., Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716
