ERWIN, Frank
FRANK BURTON ERWIN, aged 83 years, of Indiana, Pa.. R.D. 3, CherryhilI Township, passed away in the Indiana Memorial Hospital at, 4:30 p.m. Monday where he had been admitted Monday morning.
Born December 1. 1878. in Armstrong County, near Whitesburg, Pa., he was a son
of the late Kerns and Nancy Olinger Erwin. Mr. Erwin spent the early years of
his life near Whitesburg and for the past 30 years had lived on a farm in
Cherryhill Township. He was a member of the VVhitesburg Presbyterian Church and
had formerly
been employed by the Equitable Gas Company and the Pittsburgh Plate Glass
Company prior to coming to his late residence 30 years ago.
He was the husband of Rebecca Patton Erwin who survives him together with: a son
Lamont Erwin of Indiana RD. 3; and a granddaughter, Mary Erwin of Indiana R.D.
3.
A son, James Erwin died April 1, 1955.
Mr. Erwin is the last of a family, of seven
children.
Friends may pay their respect on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. at Robinson-Lytle's where services will be conducted Thursday, March 1. at 11 a.m. The Rev. J. Maurice Leister will officiate and interment will be made in the Whitesburg Presbyterian Cemetery.

JAMES ALLISON ERWIN, 49 husband of Rosella Peterson Erwin of Indiana RD 3, died in the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., April 1, 1955.
Born May 15, 1909. the son of Frank B. and Rebecca Patton Erwin, Mr. Erwin lived
his early life in Armstrong Twp, Later he spent eight years in White Twp..
thirteen years in Beaver Falls and three years ago returned to Cherryhill Twp..
his present address. He was married December 11, 1940 to Rosella Peterson Erwin.
A mechanic and farmer he was a member of Indiana Grange 1656 and was a member of
the Chippewaw Methodist Church of Beaver Falls, Pa.
Mr. Erwin's wife and parents, all of Cherryhill Twp., survive him, as well as a
stepdaughter, Mrs. Thomas (Goldie) Overly of Stony Point, N.Y; a brother. Lamont
Erwin of Cherryhill Twp., and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Robinson's, 36 N. Seventh street after 7:30 p-m.
where services will be conducted by the Rev. J. Maurice Leister of Rural Valley.
Pa. at 1:30 p m. on Monday April 4. 1955. Interment will be made at the
Whitsburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

MRS. REBECCA E. ERWIN, 89, widow of Frank B. Erwin of 107 Church St., Indiana, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, April 11, 1970.
A daughter of James and Isabella Jane Bleakney
Patton, she was born Jan. 23, 1881, in Kittanning Twp., Armstrong County, where
she lived the early part of her life.
Mrs. Erwin had been a resident of White and Cherryhill townships for many years and for the past several years had lived in Indiana.
She was a member of the Elderton UP Church and the Golden Age Club in Indiana.
Surviving are a son, F. Lamont Erwin, Indiana R. D. 3: a granddaughter, Mrs.
Mary E. Lewis, Coraopolis; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, James A. Erwin preceded her in death.
Friends will be received today (Monday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robinson
- Lytle's. Indiana, where services will be
conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Rev. W. Allan Shannon will officiate
and interment will be made in the Whitesburg burg.

HEILMAN, Dr. Howard Carrington
DR. HOWARD CARPINGTON HEILMAN, 89, of Kittanning RD 2, formerly of Elderton, died Tuesday, April 5, 1977 in VA Hospital, near Butler.
A son of Amos and Rebecca Patton Heilman, he was born Sept. 28, 1887 in Goheenville, Armstrong County. He was a medical doctor for 50 years practicing in Pittsburgh and Elderton. Dr. Heilman was a member of Elderton Presbyterian Church and West Valley Grange.
He was a veteran of WW II serving 33 months in France with the rank of captain.
Surviving are his widow, Verna
McIlwain Heilman; two brothers: Everett, Leechburg; Ruben M., Elderton; a
sister, Ivy E. Daubenspeck, Passavant Health Center, Zelienople; two stepsons:
John McIlwain, Kittanning RD 2;
Robert McIlwain, Johnstown; 12 stepgrandchildren; eight nieces and nephews.
The Rev. C.L. Fritz and the
Rev. Gary Brenner will officiate at the funeral services. Interment will be in
Elderton
Cemetery. Complete funeral arrangements will be announced in Thursday's Gazette
by the dark Funeral Home,
Elderton.

Mrs. Rebecca P. Heilman
Mrs. Rebecca Patton Heilman was
born in Kittanning -township, near Whitesburg, August 2, 1862, and died
at Rural Valley, October 6, at 11:50, P. M.
She was the widow of Dr. Amos E. Heilman, late of Rural Valley and leaves these children: Mrs. Ivy E. Harmon, Rural Valley; Dr. H. C. Heilman, Pittsburgh; E. E. Heilman, and R. M. Heilman, Elderton, and one sister and three brothers: Miss Elizabeth E. Patton, Elderton, W. A. Patton, Washington, D. C., Dr. J. M. Patton and S. M. Patton, Vandergrift and by four grandchildren.
She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church.
The funeral services will be held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harmon, in Rural Valley, Thursday, at 1:30, P.M., and will be conducted by Rev. M. D. McClelland of the Presbyterian Church of Elderton. Interment will be in the Rockville cemetery in Kittanning township.

MRS. FANNIE E. B. McCONNELL widow of John
McConnell, died in her home. 103 South 5th Street, Saturday, at the age of 82
years. Mrs. McConnell was born near Whitesburg, Armstrong County. in 1860, a
descendant of a pioneer Scotch family. Her father. Capt. John Moore, was an
officer in the Civil War. Her mother was Elizabeth Jane Patton.
In 1880 she was married to John McConnell, who
was engaged in the real estate business in Indiana for many years. Her husband
and three children preceded her in death. She i.s survived by one daughter, Mrs.
R. D. (Josephine) Wray of Kittanning and four grand-children: Mrs. Bartley J.
Donovan, Farragut, ldado; Mrs. John G. Hart of Roch
ester. N. Y.; Miss Eleanorn Wray of New York City. and Richard Wray, a student
at W. & J. College: also a number of nieces and neph-

John McConnell, aged 73 years, well known real estate agent, and highly esteemed resident of Indiana for nearly a quarter century, died at his home on South Fifth street on Monday afternoon at 2:30, with heart trouble, following an illness of five weeks. Mr. McConnell was born in McKeesport on September 21, 1856. While a child, his parents moved to a farm near Whitesburg, Armstrong county, where be resided until 1905, when he came to Indiana. He was united in marriage April 28, 1880, to Miss Fannie E. B. Moore, daughter of the late Capt. John Moore, of Whitesburg. Four children were born to the couple—Elizabeth and Prof. Ross McConnell, now deceased; a son who died in infancy, and Josephine, wife of R. D. Wray, of Kittanning. Besides his widow and daughter, Mrs. Wray, the deceased is survived by four grand children and two brothers. Dr. James McConnell, of St. Paul, Minn. Superintendent of Public Instruction of that state, and Marshall McConnell, of Whitesburg. Mr. McConnell engaged in the real estate business shortly after locating in Indiana and was highly successful. He had keen judgment in matters pertaining to local real estate and his fair methods of dealing with buyer and seller won for him a large clientele. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was esteemed was an upright Christian man by his friends and associates. Funeral services will be held at his late home this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by his pastor. Rev. J. A. McCamey, and interment wi1l follow in the family plot in Oakland cemetery.

MRS. NELLE McCLUNE McCONNELL — Word has been received here of the death, at San Diego, Calif., on December 12, 1959 of Mrs. Nelle McClune McCormell, widow of W. Ross McConnell, whose parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John McCormell, resided in Indiana for many years.
Mrs. McConnell was a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Mecklish McClune and is survived by two daughters, Katharine, Mrs. J. B. Donovan, of San Diego, California and Eugenie, Mrs. Wesley W. Witten of Texas. A brother, Harry McClune, of Ford Citv, and two grandchildren also survive
Mrs. Richard D Wray of South 5th Street in Indiana is a sister-in-law of the deceased.
The Rev. R. W. Faus. D D , pastor of the First Methodist Church, will conduct brief graveside services on Saturday. December 19 at 1:00 p m. in Oakland cemetery where interment will follow. Robinson-Lytle are caring for arrangements.

W. Ross McConnell, aged 39 years, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John McConnell of
South Fifth street, passed away at his home in Carlisle, Pa., on Wednesday, June
23. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Nell McClune McConnell; two daughters, Catherine,
aged S years, and Helen Eugenia, aged 6 years; his parents, and one sister, Mrs.
R. D. Wray, of Kittanning. Death was due to a complication of diseases, brought
on by malaria, contracted while he was located in Mississippi, where he was
assisting in the fight for the extermination of the cotton boll weevil.
The deceased was born and reared near
Kittanning. He was educated in the local schools and was later grad
uated from the Indiana State Normal School, with the class of 1900. He was also
graduated from the Pennsylvania State College and was a member of the faculty of
that institution for several years. He was an
entomologist of great repute and of late years had been in the employ of the
United States Department of
Agriculture. He was located in Mississippi for some years and there contracted
the malaria, which with complications finally caused his death.
Until the time of his alst serious illness
Professor McConnell had been in charge of the Federal laboratory
at Carlisle, and had made an excellent success of his work. He was loath to give
up his activities and did not do
so until the disease had so weakened him that it became imperative that he
relinquish his duties. He was a
man of high moral standards and clean, incisive precepts and will be missed
among a wide circle of friends,
acquaintances and business associates.
He was a member of the twenty-year..

over his inability to be pres
ent at the reunion of his classmates this week.
The body will be brought to Indiana on Saturday morning. The funeral services
will be conducted in his parents' home on Sabbath afternoon at two o'clock by
the .Rev. Dr. Bennett W. Hutchinson, pastor of the
Methodist Episcopal Church. Interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery.

John Moore, aged 89 .years, died at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. John H. Pierce, on School street.. Friday evening at 8:24
o'clock after a ten mouths illness following the fracture of his hip bones.
Monday the body was taken to his former home, in Whitesburg, Armstrong county,
where funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church, at
11o'clock. The deceased was born in Whitesburg and resided there until three
years ago, when he came to Indiana, since when he has lived in the homes of his
two daughters, Mrs. John McConnell and Mrs. John Pierce. He was the proprietor
of a store in Whitesburg for many years and was also a veteran of the Civil war.
He leaves the following children: Mrs. McConnell and Mrs. Pierce, of Indiana; W.
W. E.
Moore, of Johnstown, and J. Murray S. Moore, of Johnstown; also, two Sisters
—Mrs. J. J. Deemer, of Kittanning, and Mrs. Mary A. Horne, of Whitesburg.

MISS S. ELIZABETH MOORE, daughter of the late J. M. S. Moore and Margaret (Fleming) Moore, died Tuesday morning February 12, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Wm. N. Stoneman of Charleroi.
Miss Moore has been in government service for many years, first as Deputy
Collector of Internal Revenue in Pittsburgh-and later in Civil Service in
Washington, D. C. incident to the war effort.
Surviving Miss Moore is a sister, Mrs. Chas. E. Rink of South Ninth street; a
brother, Ira M. Moore, Valley Falls, N. Y.; the sister mentioned above, Mrs. Wm.
N. Stoneman, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends of the family will be received at the home of Dr. C. E. Rink, 27 South
Ninth street, after one o clock Thursday, where funeral services will be
conducted by Dr. D. R. Graham, pastor of the First Methodist Church, at two
o'clock Friday afternoon.

Josephine Madge Rink, wife of Dr. Charles K Rink, 27 South Ninth Street Indiana, died at her home Monday afternoon at two-thirty.
She was the daughter of J. M. S. Moore and Margaret Fleming Moore, both
deceased, and was born in Pittsburgh, May 12, 1879.
The family home was later in Indiana, Irvin and Wilkinsburg. She was educated at Indiana Public Schools and Lock Haven State Normal School.
Dr. and Mrs. Rink were married September. 1910. They had a daughter, Frances
Elizabeth, who died in
infancy.
Mrs. Rink was a Daughter of the American Revolution, a member of the Ingleside Club, and the First Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. William N.
Stoneman who is now in Chile, South America, and a brother, Ira M. Moore, of
Valley Falls, New York.
Friends will be received at the late home anytime Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Service will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in charge of Rev. D. R. Graham, D. D.. pastor of the First Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Oakland cemetery. Arrangements being made by George D.
Leydie.
