Adam Simonton of Ohio Family Homesteads

Adam Simonton, along with sons John, Theophilus, and William came from Iredell County, North Carolina to the NorthWest Territory of Ohio in the Fall of 1796. The following collection of pictures are of the homesteads of Theophilus Simonton and his two oldest sons, Alexander and Adam, that were built in the early to mid-nineteenth century.

Theophilus Simonton County Line Marker
   The notch along the top of this County line stone marker divides the home of Theophilus Simonton in half, thus making him an early settler of both Claremont and Warren Counties.

   Ginny Farquer is sitting in front of the fireplace built by Theophilus Simonton and Samuel Ross. Samuel married Theo's daughter, Mary Simonton and they inherited the house from Theophilus according to his will.

   Dave Ross and Virginia Farquer located the home of Theophilus Simonton on October 29, 1999. The next day they found the Adam Simonton homestead, and the following day they found the Alexander Simonton homestead.
