Seated on the left is John Martin and seated to his left is his second wife Martha Jane "Pet" (Cline) Martin. The young boy standing between them is their son Charles Martin. The little girl beneath Aunt Pet's left arm is Josie Cook, who lived with this family for some time. Standing in the back on the far left is Joseph Cobble, an orphan taken in by Aunt Pet and Uncle John. Standing in the back between the two boys is daughter Nannie (Martin) Ball, who was not married at this time. Standing behind Aunt Pet is son Spencer Martin, also unmarried. Judging by the probable age of son Charles Martin above, we believe this photo was taken ca. 1890 - 1891.
Many thanks to Cousin Annie (Martin) Taylor formerly of Englewood, TN for allowing me to borrow this old photograph of her grandparents so that I could make a copy!
