Charles Barret's line.Moses lived most of his life in Louisa and Albermarle Counties, VA. Louisa was organized in 1742 and at that time quite a number of Gentrys had settled in Louisa Co. In the year of 1744 the county of Albermarle was organized still further west of Louisa.
It was not until about 1760 when the Gentrys began to settle in Albemarle County. Moses bought land of Samuel Gray of Albemarle County on the old Lynchburg Road, north of Garland's store, on the south side of Ragged Mt. and made it his permanent home. Moses was a Ruling Elder in the Cove Presbyterian Church, a large church building situated about six miles from his home. His wife Lucy Sims was noted for her religious zeal and church work.Moses married Lucy Sims in 1760 in Albermarle, Va. Lucy was born in 1746 in St. Martin Paris, Hanover, Va. She died in 1796 in Albermarle, Va.
