5. Bertrude "Hoss"² Smith (Joseph Truman³, Hubert Nathaniel⁴, Samuel Jones⁵, Clayton⁶, John⁷) was born in Greene Co. Mississippi March 29, 1922. Bertrude died January 15, 1996 in Pascagoula Mississippi, at 73 years of age. His body was interred in Jackson Co. MS.

He married Ruby Walley in Wayne Co Mississippi, April 20, 1946.

Bertrude "Hoss" Smith and Ruby Walley had the following children:

• 7 ii. Janice Smith was born December 12,1946 in Waynesboro, Mississippi. Janice married Joe H. Gardner September 30, 1966. Janice died March 26, 2005 In Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Janice was buried March 29, 2005 at Buckatunna Freewill Baptist Cemetery, Buckatunna, Mississippi.
