David E. Sloyer, 56, of 237 Chapel Terrace died Wednesday at 9 p.m. of natural causes in St. Joseph's Medical Center, where he had been a patient for three days.

Born in Nazareth, Northampton County, he was a son od Elwood Roy and Helen Minerva (Mitman) Sloyer.

Sloyer was employed three years as an ambulance driver for TLC, Reading, then three years as a bus driver for the Berks County Intermediate Unit, last working in 1996.

Sloyer who resided with Virginia Marx, is survived by a son, David L., Maidencreek Township, and two daughters, Lori (Sloyer) Gellock, Easton, and Stacey (Sloyer) Trahan, Lake Charles, La.

Other survivors include a brother, James, Catasauqua, Lehigh County, and five sisters, Christine (Sloyer) Ozner, Miami; Holly (Sloyer) Dashnaw, Charleston, S.C.; Debra Sloyer, Boston; Michelle (Sloyer) Lahr, Friendsville, Susquehanna County; and Kelly (Sloyer) Wanibold, Bethlehem.

There are also three grandchildren.

John A. Rapp, 62, of 401 Middlesex St., Shimer Manor, Pohatcong Township, N.J., died Friday in his home. He was the husband of Mabel (Werkheiser) Rapp.

He was the owner of Rapp Enterprises Inc., Phillipsburg, a firm that manufactured wooden pallets for the past 40 years.

Surviving with his widow are a son, John A. II, at home; two daughters, Constance M. Nordstrom of Cranford, N.J., and Wendy Mae Richards of Winston- Salem, N.C.; two brothers Kenneth K. of Carpentersville and Robert H. of Coopersburg; a sister, Barbara Martino of Carpentersville, and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Barbara R. Martino, 64, of Carpenterville, Pohatcong Township, N.J., died Monday in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. She was the wife of Edward J. Martino Jr.

A registered nurse, she was supervisor for the Warren County Visiting Homemakers Association, Washington, N.J., for eight years before retiring in 1986.

She also had worked at Easton Hospital and Warren Hospital.

Born in Carpenterville, she was a daughter of the late Leon R. and Ruth (Kressler) Rapp.

She served with the Army Cadet Nursing Corps at the Martinsburg (W.Va.) Veterans Hospital, and was a founder of the Warren Hospital Meals on Wheels program.

Survivors: Husband; son, Edward J. Jr. of Carpenterville; daughters, Catherine M. Rummel of Milford R.3, N.J., Leah D. Martino of Petaluma, Calif., and Barbara M. DiMarcantonio of Martins Creek; brothers, Kenneth of Carpenterville and Robert of Coopersburg, and four grandchildren.

They were married 57 years last July. From 1946 until retiring in 1986 he was an insurance agent and president of Kressler, Wolff and Miller Inc., Easton, and was chairman of the company from 1986 until his death. He was a 1942 graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in economics. Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Herman D. and Elizabeth (Kressler) Wolff. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem, and a former member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, where he was a treasurer for many years, and an elder and trustee. He was lieutenant in the Navy during World War II, and had served on Landing Ship-Tanks in the Pacific, and was a commanding officer on a Landing Craft-Infantry during the D-Day operation. He was a past president of the board of Easton Hospital, where he served for many years. He was a life member of the Easton Kiwanis, and helped found the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Easton. He was on the board of the Easton National Bank and Trust Co., and Merchants Bank, Allentown. He was president of the Presbyterian Homes Inc., and chairman of the building committee of Kirkland Village. He was instrumental in the building of the Kirkland Village complex.He was a trustee of the Hugh Moore Park Commission and a director of the Easton Area Land Development Corp. He was a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Pennsylvania, a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, and active in the United Fund. He was also a member of the Forest Lake Club, Hawley, Wayne County; the Northampton County Country Club; Pomfret Club, Easton; and the Union League of Philadelphia. He was a member of the Dallas Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors: Wife; sons, J. Marshall of Easton, David W. of Forks Township; daughter, Susan Semmelman of Spring Grove, York County; sister, Margaret Wolff Frame of Hawley; seven grandchildren.
