News of the death of Jeremiah P. Kaniper, a former resident of Hellertown, which occurred in Philadephia, on Friday evening, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ellen Potter, of No. 2325 North Third street, was received on Saturday by relatives in Bethlehem and Hellertown. He had been ill for some time with a complication of diseases. Mr. Kaniper was born in Roxburg, N.J., February 28, 1857, a son of the late John and Susan Kaniper. Besides the widow, and daughter, Mrs. Potter, there also survive one other daughter, Mrs. Mabel Mock, of Bethlehem; one sister, Mrs. Ellen Rush, of Phillipsburg; three brothers, William, of Marion, Kansas, and Edward and John, both of Hellertown. He was a member of Springtown Camp, P.O.S. of A.

ALLENTOWN, Pa., June 23, - Marcus Seifert, of South Bethlehem, died today in the Allentown Hospital from injuries received Tuesday night, when an auto in which he and Henry Nicholas were racing another machine struck a train on the Reading Railway at a crossing, Nicholas died on the way to the hospital. Their machine hit the train with such force that the rear wehels (sic) of a freight car were derailed.

Lillian Lewis, 88, formerly of 719 S. Lynn St., Fountain Hill, died Tuesday in Gracedale, Nazareth R.1. She was the wife of the late Homer C. Lewis.
She was a secretary at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for many years before retiring.
Born in Seidersville, she was a daughter of the late George and Agnes (Moll) Walz.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors: Nieces and nephews.

Personal: Martha was a cook at Lehigh University for many years before retiring. Memberships: She was a member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Survivors: a daughter, June Durnin of Bethlehem; granddaughters, Irene Pennington of Nazareth and Nancy Kemmerer of Bethlehem; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by a son, Robert. Services: Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the church, 321 Wyandotte St. There will be no calling hours.
