SKOGLUND, ERNEST C.—Ernest C. Skoglund passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lincoln, Neb., during the night Wednesday, September 21, 1960, aged 40 years, 7 months and 16 days.
Ernest was born on a farm southwest of Geneva, Neb., February 5, 1920.  He grew up in the Geneva vicinity, attending rural school.
He was married to Lillian Salzman of Geneva, august 13, 1940.  Ernest entered Army service January 10, 1942 and served in the South Pacific, African and European Theaters.  He was awarded the Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, World War II victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and American Service Medal.  He was discharged from service November 6, 1945.
Mr. and Mrs. Skoglund were the parents of five children, two sons, Clyde Jr., 12, and Kenneth Wayne, 11; and three daughters, Bonnie Joyce, 13, Barbara Jean 9, and Linda Susan, 7.
The family moved to Lincoln in 1947 and Ernest was employed there at Rudy’s Body Shop at the time of his death.  He was a member of American Legion Post No. 3
He is survived by his wife, five children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Skoglund of Geneva, two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Doremus and Mrs. Maxine George of Geneva, and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Salzman of Greeley, Col.
Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva, at 3:30 p. m. Sunday, September 25 with Rev. Alden B. Sears officiating.  Ralph Reemts sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Going Down the Valley”, accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster.  Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.  Pallbearers were Curtis Coleman, James Vaughn, Peter Traudt and Rudy Aksamit of Lincoln, Roger Rut of Milligan and George Sieckmann of Ohiowa.
A short military service was held at the cemetery, conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Doremus Sept. 20, 1947, in Osceola, Neb.  She was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church.  She was a homemaker and had worked for Scientific Electronics and Porter Industries.  She came to Loveland from Geneva in 1962.  
  She is survived by her husband Floyd M. Doremus, Loveland; sons, Larry Cannon, Northglenn and Bobby Cannon, Loveland; daughters, Shirley Campbell and Debra Randolph, Loveland and Mrs. Rich (Nancy) Weitzel, Fort Collins; and seven grandchildren.
 A service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Zion American Lutheran Church with Pastors John Gunderson and C.H. Hinkhouse officiating.
 Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

 Floyd Martin Doremus, 72 of Loveland, died Nov 3, 1997, at North Shore Manor Health Care Center.
  He was born Jan 26, 1925, in Utica, Neb., to James Elmer and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Pozhel Doremus.
 He served in the U.S. Navy from August 1943 to December 1945 and was a radarman receiving the Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
 He married Marjorie Ann Skoglund Sept 20, 1947, in Osceola, Neb.  They moved to Loveland from Geneva, Neb., in 1962.
 He was employed with the Thompson School District R2-J with the custodial department at Ivy Stockwell Elementary and Loveland High School.
 He loved fishing and poetry and was a published poet.  He had been an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion, and VFW.
 He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Weitzel and husband Rick of Fort Collins, Debra Doremus of Loveland and Shirley Campbell of Loveland; two sons, Larry Cannon of Aurora and Bobby Cannon of Loveland; four brothers, Richard Doremus of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Art Doremus of Geneva, Glen Doremus and wife Joanne of Crete, Neb., Dwayne Doremus and wife Lorrine of Crete, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Marquerite Doremus of Geneva, and Edna Doremus of Gresham, Neb; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ann Doremus, Nov 20, 1984; five brothers and three sisters.
 Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, the Rev. David Barber and Rev. Kim Latterell of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

GEORGE, LEROY EARL—Leroy Earl George, son of William and Mabel Meese George, was born February 25, 1920, at Loup City, Neb.  He suffered a heart attack and passed away unexpectedly a few hours later at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, April 2, 1970, at the age of 50 years, 1 month and 8 days.
He attended the public schools in Loup City.  Then as a teenager he moved with his family to Omaha, where he worked for a time in the construction business.
He was married to Maxine Skoglund, November 16, 1952, in Papillion, Neb.  To this union six children were born, Leroy Earl, Donna Jean, Jackie Ray, Donald Dean, Susan Kay and Peggy Jo.
They moved to Geneva after their marriage, where they continued to make their home.  He drove a truck to earn a living for their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Leroy Earl, in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Donna Jean) Hodges of Loveland, Col., sons, Jackie Ray and Donald Dean of Loveland, Col., and two daughters at home, Susan Kay and Peggy Jo; also seven sisters, Mrs. Ray (Alice) Knapp of Sidney, Mrs. Harlow (Loye) White of North Platte, Mrs. Steve (Irene) Slifka of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) Frickey and Mrs. Robert (Opel) Krause, both of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Gerald (Betty )Smolik and Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Coleman, both of North Platte; three brothers, Ralph and Harold, both of North Platte, and Max of Denver, Col., and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva at 2 p. m.  Saturday, April 4.  Rev. Paul Walker of Fairmont officiated.  Sheldon Johnson sang “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”  Mrs. Johnson was accompanist.  Pallbearers were Robert Hofferber, Charles Krupicka, John Macrander, Robert Ohnesorge, Marvin Saum and Melvin Whiteley.  Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.

                                             Heritage Worker Buried in Geneva

 Maxine Loretta George was born to Clyde Skoglund and Emma Ondrak Skoglund on January 28, 1924. at Geneva and passed away on October 31, 1980 at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 56 years.  She was one of three children in the family.
 Maxine received her elementary education at District 13.  During World War II she worked in a youth training program at Fairbury.
 On November 16, 1942, Maxine married Leroy George, a truck driver from Loup City.  They lived in Geneva for a time, then moved to Sidney for three years and finally returned to Geneva.  This marriage was blessed with six children, three boys and three girls.  The first boy died as an infant.
 She was preceded in death by one son, Pee Wee George; her husband Leroy; mother and father, Clyde and Emma Skoglund; and a brother Ernest Skoglund.
 Maxine was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 7102 and was active and always proud of her affiliation with the post.
 Maxine was employed by the Heritage Home and worked for the home for all but three months since it was founded.
 She is survived by two sons.  Jack and Don George of Loveland, Colo.; three daughters, Donna Hodges and Peggy George of Loveland, Colo., and Mrs. Kenneth (Susan) Brown of Geneva; one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Margie) Doremus of Loveland, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church in Geneva, Tuesday, November, 1980, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jay Funk officiating.
