Retired Railroad Conductor

NORWOOD--The funeral for Rollin R. Haggett, 88, of 12 Ridge St., will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Harris officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Haggett was declared dead on arrival Friday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Buck Funeral Home. Mr. Haggett was a railroad conductor, beginning with New York Central Railroad in 1944 and retiring from Penn Central Railroad in 1974. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid gardener. Born Aug. 2, 1912 in Norwood, son of Leslie and Katherine Bicknell Haggett, he graduated from Norwood High School. He married Nina Randall on Dec. 7, 1932, at the Heuvelton Methodist Church. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Robert R., Norwood, and Rodger W., Pierrepont; a daughter, Dora Waite, Norwood; a brother, Robert E. Haggett, Norwood, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the Norwood First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
