NORWOOD--Mildred M. McCarthy, 77, Blass Road, Red Creek, a native of Norwood, died Friday at the Newark Campus of Via Health of Wayne County.

Mrs. McCarthy retired from the Webster school system. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Born Jan. 27, 1921, in Norwood, daughter of Gilbert and Margaret LaPaige Martin, she attended Madrid schools. She married Timothy C. McCarthy in 1941. He died Oct. 11, 1955.

Surviving are five sons, Timothy and Ray, both of Sodus, Dale, Port Byron, Lee, North Rose, and Gary, Newark; a brother, Sam Martin, Richville, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A half-brother, Albert N. Martin, died May 19, 1990. A brother, Roy F. Martin, and a sister, Doris Michaud, died also before her.

A graveside service was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today at St. Lawrence Cemetery, North Lawrence.

Arrangements are with Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main St., Sodus.
