Henry Slade Jr was born estimated 1672.1 He was the son of Henry Slade and Hannah Loveridge. A grant was made to a Henry Slade in Norfolk County, Virginia on March 16, 1693 for importing six individuals: John, Joseph, Benjamin, Samuel, Hannah and William Slades. Since Henry Slade, Sr. was in Albermarle by 1669 and in Currituck by 1677 and since Henry Slade, Jr. wills "my plantation in Virginia, Norfolk Co.", to his eldest son William, it is probable that the grantee was Henry Slade, Jr. and the headrights listed were his siblings, children of Henry, Sr.2 On April 29, 1693, Henry Slade, Jr. received a grant for 330 acres on the N. Et. side of the N. Wt. river, beg.g &c. on the North East side of the marshes of the N. Wt. river.3 Henry married Abigail Jesper, daughter of Richard Jasper. Henry Slade Jr left a will on January 5, 1718;

To all to whom these presents shall come that I, Henry Slade of the parish of Hyde did about twenty years ago or thereby give a negro girl with all her increase to Richard Jespers then in his mothers arms, being the eldest lawful son of Richard Jespers and Hannah his wife, my daughter and at the said time dedicated my said daughter to take the said negro girl named Moll in possession for the use of the said son Richard my grandson until he comes of age or marries. Now know ye that I the said Henry Slade for the keeping of true love, friendship and surety among any sons and grandsons, and for preventing of lawsuits and differences that may arise after my decease, annd out of my paternal care and ardent affection which I have & have to them, Hath given granted and confirmed, and by this goth give grant and confirm unto my grandson Samuel Jespers and to his heirs for ever the issue of the said negro girl Molly, (she and her said masters being now dead) and all their increase which at the making hereof (the former gift being only only by word) is two negro girls named Sarah and Kate, to him my said grandson Samuel Jespers, and to his heirs forever, as they are now in the possession of Richard Jespers his father, to be delivereed to him on his day of marriage or when at age. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of January, One thousand seven hundred and eighteen years. [Signed] Henry Slade
