William Slade was born estimated 1743 in Martin County, North Carolina. He was the son of Ebenezer Slade Sr and Agnes McNare.
William married Nancy Gainer on June 19, 1761 in Tyrell [later Martin] County, North Carolina; [This is listed as Ann Gainer at same date by another marriage compilation].1 Served as a statesman and soldier. Was Ensign and Lieutenant in the North Carolina Line in 177. He served to the close of the war and became a member of the Cincinnati. William Slade died in February, 1791 in North Carolina.
