Skillmans of America

The Descendancy of Thomas Skillman of 1664

Virtually all the non-African-American Skillmans in America are descendants of Thomas Skillman who came to America in 1664 in the Nicholls expedition to wrest New Amsterdam (now New York) from the Dutch in a bloodless confrontation. He decided to stay in America, was given land on Long Island, married and raised a family that included one son, Thomas II. This Thomas had 6 sons, over 10,000 of their descendants, which include 4738 Skillmans, are listed here. To honor the Privacy of living persons, only their names are shown on this site.
