Researching the Harrigan family. Most distant ancestor was James Harrigan, born (probably Co. Cork) Ireland before 1800; married Elizabeth Sullivan, who was born Ireland about 1792 and died 1867 in Taunton, Massachusetts. Their son William listed his birthplace as Co. Cork, Ireland, 1827. Naturalized in 1852; recorded in 1850 US Census in a Taunton, Bristol, MA, boarding house with Ellen Harrigan and Edward Harrigan; resided near Edward Harrigan and Jeremiah Harrigan according to 1850 Taunton City Directory. Married Catherine Kirby, daughter of Thomas Kirby and Hannah Barry (oral history states Hannah was from "Ennis, Ireland"). Died 1897 in Taunton.

William may also be related to: Margaret (Harrigan) Lynch, b. 1828 Ireland, m. James Lynch in Taunton in 1846, d. 1902 Taunton, daughter of James Harrigan and Elizabeth Sullivan. Elizabeth (Harrigan) Riley, b. 1838 Ireland, m. Francis Riley in Taunton in 1864; daughter of James and Elizabeth Harrigan. James Harrigan, b. 1835 Ireland, enumerated in Taunton in 1860 US Census with E. Harrigan, female born 1792 Ireland.
