     Dear Brother Jensen:

Research and checking of the Christian Jensen line has been started. Enclosed is a pedigree chart indicating how far the searches have progressed.
Kristian Jensen (No. 2 on the pedigree chart) was born on 2 September 1843 in Roskilde City. His parents, Jens Larsen and Inger Sophie Mathiasen, were married on 28 January 1837 in Roskilde.
They had 12 children, five of which died young. Two of the children were born in St. Jorgensbjerg Parish and the rest were born in Roskilde.
The census for 1840 of St. Jorgensbjerg and for 1845, 50, 55 and 1860 of Roskilde City, were checked. According to the last four census records, the birthplace of Jens Larsen was Kirke Hvaslo Parish and the birthplace of Inger Sophie was Copenhagen City.
Consequently, the next search was made in Kirke Hvaslo Parish records for Jens, born about 1803. One Jens was born in 1802, son of Lars Jensen. Another Jens was born in 1803 son of Lars Eliasen, and a third Jens was born in 1804, son of Lars Jensen.
We could not be sure which of the three was Jens Larsen (No. 4 on the pedigree chart) without further proof. All three were therefore followed in the Military Levying Rolls from 1806 to 1839. The first, born 1802, was dismissed in 1827 and a notation said he was a freeholder in Holbaek County.
We knew that your Jens Larsen lived in Copenhagen County, Roskilde City, when he married.
The freeholder in Holbaek could, therefore, be ruled out. (A freeholder is usually married where he is dismissed from the service). The Jens born 1804 stayed in Kirke Hvalso from 1806 to 1839, and was then dismissed. He too was ruled out. Your Jens Larsen was in Roskilde at the time.
Jens, born 1803, son of Lars Eliasen, moved from Kirke Hvalso in 1830, to Roskilde City. He moved to Sct. Jorgensbjaerg in 1837. You will note that your Jens was married in Roskilde on 28 January 1837, after which he moved to Sct. Jorgensbjerg, where two children were born. This evidence corresponds perfectly with the last military record.

Research was then continued for the family of Lars Eliasen, (No. 8 on the pedigree chart.) Seven children were born in Kirke Hvalso, two of which died young.
     The following censuses were checked:
     1801, 1845, 1855, 1834, 1850, 1860, 1840

The last four indicated the birthplace of Lisbeth Hansen, Lars Eliasen's wife, as Soderup, Holbaek County.
This parish was checked, and here we found their marriage on 5 March 1800.
Lisbeth Hansen was also born in Soderup, and christened on 26 November 1775. Her father was Hans Christensen. The Hans Christensen family was not finished at this time.
Lars Eliasen died before 1840, and it was necessary to find him in military records in an effort to determine where he was born, and who his father was. Military Levying Rolls from Tollose, the parish where he lived in 1801 were, therefore, checked between 1796 and 1805.
The Military records indicated that his birthplace was Vindstrup, and that has father was Elias Sorensen. Vindstrup is located in Asminderup, Holbaek County. He was christened there on 15 September 1776. This family was not finished at this time.
Searches were next made for the marriages of the children of Lars Eliasen and Lisbeth Hansen. The oldest son, Hans, was married in Kirke Hvalso on 1 December 1832 to Karen Henriksen, and 4 children were born in Kirke Hvalso.
Another son, Christian, was married to Johanne Olesen and the couple had 10 children, three of which were born in Kirke Hvalso, and seven in Soderup Parish.
A third son, Soren, married Ane Jacobsen on 3 December 1842 in Kirke Hvalso, and moved to Copenhagen. Searches in Copenhagen City are very time consuming. We shall try to see if we can find them at the same time we search for the birth of Inger Sophie Mathiasen, No. 5 on the pedigree chart.
Research was then continued on the Kirsten Rasmussen line, No. 3 on the pedigree chart. She was born on 27 February 1852 in Baldersbrondo Hoje Taastrup Parish, to Lisbeth Olesen and Rasmus Larsen. They had six children, one of which was born in Gadstrup, and five in Hoje Taastrup.
Rasmus Larsen was 33 years old when he married Lisbeth Olsen, in 1848. She was 26 years old. Censuses in 1850 and 55 gave his birthplace as Syv Parish, and hers as Gafstrup Parish.
He was born in Oster Syv on 3 December 1814, to Lars Olsen and Karen Nielsen. We did not finish this family.
Lisbeth Olesen was born in Ramsomagle, Gadstrup Parish, on 5 January 1822, to Ole Madsen and Karen Olesen. This couple was married there on 13 October 1815. They had 12 children, of which only one died young.
Census and parish records indicated that both were born in Ramsomagle in Gadstrup. We found that Ole Madsen was born here in July 1785, and Karen in May, 1795.
His parents were Mads Rasmussen and Kirsten Olesen, and hers were Ole Larsen and Ane Sorensen. Time did not permit us to finish these families.
We succeeded in finishing 8 family group sheets, which we sent to the Records Office for processing. We have a start on 8 other families, but your funds are now used up.
According to instructions in force since 1958, these names will be placed in the Temple File for performance on baptism and endowment ordinances. Sealings may be performed in the temple of your choice. (These rules are clearly detailed in the new Genealogical Instruction Manual, Section 5, page 7.)
We are returning your 3 family group sheet, for which we have no further use. Please notice the information added.
