            Services for Robert E. Bass, 81, of Rogersville, who went to be with 
            the Lord at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001), will be conducted at 
            8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, 
            Rogersville, with the Rev. Ray Mullins and the Rev. Johnny Carr 
            officiating.

            WEBER CITY, Va. - Services for Oscar "Tom" Claude Begley, 57, who 
            entered into rest Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001), will be conducted at 2 
            p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral 
            Home with the Rev. Charlie Taylor officiating. 
            Burial will follow at Begley Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, Va.

            Marvin Bradshaw, 58, Ontario, Calif.

            ONTARIO, Calif. - Marvin Dennie Bradshaw, 58, 1557 E. 4th St., 
            passed away Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at his home following an 
            apparent heart attack. 
            Mr. Bradshaw was native of Church Hill but had lived in California 
            for several years. He was a sales representative for the Nordstrom 
            Co. and was of the Baptist faith. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Edsel and Willa Bray 
            Bradshaw; brothers, Conley Arlen Bradshaw and Larry Bradshaw; 
            sister-in-law, Linda Davis. 
            Surviving are three aunts, Mrs. Willie Seals Arnold, Church Hill, 
            Mrs. Cornelia Bray Hobbs, Weber City, Mrs. Gladys Bray Bellamy, 
            Kingsport; one uncle, Hardy H. Bray, Kingsport; special children, 
            Diane and Gary Price, Susie and Terry Armstrong, both of Church 
            Hill. 
            Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Johnson Funeral 
            Home, Church Hill. 

            Michael C. Brooks, 33, Big Stone Gap, Va.

            BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Michael C. "Mike" Brooks, 33, died Wednesday 
            (Dec. 5, 2001) at Wellmont-Lonesome Pine Hospital. 
            He was born in Baltimore, Md., and lived most of his life in Big 
            Stone Gap. He was a former roofer for Oakwood Homes in Salisbury, 
            N.C., and was a carpenter and a mechanic. 
            He was preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Brooks. 
            Surviving are two sons, Mikey Barnette and Jimmy Barnette, 
            Kingsport; his parents, David J. and Carolyn J. Clay Brooks, Big 
            Stone Gap, Va.; sister, Jaclyn Arlee Brooks, Norton, Va.; maternal 
            grandmother, Ollie Smith, Appalachia, Va., and paternal grandmother, 
            Florence Brooks, Baltimore, Md.; one niece and one nephew; and 
            fianceé, Tina Vaughn, Appalachia, Va. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 6 to 8 p.m. 
            Saturday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Hugh Bowers officiating. 
            Burial will follow in American Legion Cemetery. 

            William Campbell, 84, Nickelsville, Va.
               
            Graveside services for William Charles Campbell, 84, of 
            Nickelsville, Va., who entered into rest on Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001), 
            will be at 11 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. 
            Pallbearers will be the six grandchildren, Sam, Eddie and Jamie 
            Burke, Tim Hill, Roger Campbell and Josh Austin. 
            The family will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go 
            in procession to the cemetery for graveside services.

            Blanche Copeland, 96, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Blanche Miller Copeland, 96, 148 Lebanon Road, died 
            Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 5, 2001) at her home. 
            Born in Jacksboro, Tenn., she had lived in Kingsport for many years. 

            She and her late husband, Conrad Copeland, formerly owned and 
            operated Copeland Office Equipment. 
            Mrs. Copeland was a Baptist. 
            Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Pollard and her husband Greg and 
            Josephine Ritchie and her husband Roscoe, all of Kingsport; and 
            several nieces and nephews. 
            A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Oak 
            Hill Cemetery. 
            Friends may call at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home at their 
            convenience. 

            Glessie Davis, 92, Ewing, Va.

            EWING, Va. - Glessie Davis, 92, a lifelong resident of Ewing, passed 
            away Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) in the Middlesboro Appalachian 
            Regional Hospital. 
            Born Oct. 28, 1909 in Gibson Station, she was a daughter of the late 
            Charlie and Melissa Brimm Davis. She was a member of Walnut Hill 
            Baptist Church and was retired from the head start program of the 
            Lee County School System. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, 
            Arthur and Robert Sewell Davis; and a sister, Maxie Lee Davis. 
            Surviving are two nephews, Bob Davis and Tom Davis and wife, 
            Beverly; four great-nieces, Cindy Rutherford, Elaine Davis, Jackie 
            Williams and Robyn Grabeel; one great-great-niece, Presley 
            Rutherford; two great-great-nephews, Taylor Williams and Jacey 
            Grabeel; special friend, Betty Thomas; a host of other relatives and 
            many friends at Middlesboro Health Care Facility. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Reece Funeral Home and 
            Valley Chapel. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with Danny Robbins officiating. 
            Music will be by Bobbie Littrell and Earl Sumpter. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the 
            Elydale Cemetery.

            The Rev. Eric B. dePendleton, 92, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - The Rev. Professor Eric Boulton dePendleton, 92, entered 
            into rest on Wednesday, (Dec. 5, 2001). 
            Born in England, he resided in Canada and the United States. He 
            traveled extensively on six continents. Mr. dePendleton was free 
            spirited and an adventurer of the heart. He was a retired minister 
            and professor of history. 
               
            Surviving are his wife, Patricia dePendleton, Kingsport; two 
            daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Wayne Stenhouse, Brockville, 
            Ontario, Canada, Juanita and Eugene Mitchell, Kingsport; one son and 
            daughter-in-law, Mervyn and Irene dePendleton, Windsor, Ontario; 
            nine grandchildren, Julie Roth, Michael dePendleton, David 
            dePendleton, Jennifer Stenhouse, Janet Spencer, Sharon Stenhouse, 
            Winston Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Sinclair Mitchell; and one great 
            grandson, Brandon Spencer. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's 
            Episcopal Church with The Rev. Suzanne Smitherman officiating. The 
            family will receive friends immediately following the service in the 
            Kent Room of the church. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at West View 
            Cemetery in Radford, Virginia.

            KINGSPORT - Graveside services for Robert (Bob) Morgan Depew, 66, 
            3313 Princeton Road, who died late Monday (Dec. 3, 2001), will be 
            conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Roller Cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Tom Herron, Trevor Sproles, Justin Sproles, Sam 
            Norris, Eddie Fowler and Henry Lawson.

            Marie Fink, 80, Kingsport.
               
            KINGSPORT Services for Lillie Marie DeVault Fink, 80, of the Rock 
            Springs community, who died Monday (Dec. 3, 2001), 
            will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rock Springs United Methodist 
            Church with the Rev. Larry DeVault and the Rev. Scott A. 
            Robertson-Gouge officiating. 
            The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services. 

            Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

            Mildred Fletcher, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Mildred Kiehl Fletcher died early Wednesday morning 
            (Dec. 5, 2001) at Asbury Center at Baysmont Health Center. 
            Born July 13, 1907 in Galion, Ohio, Milly moved to Marion, Ohio as a 
            child. She lived in Marion until moving to Columbus, Ohio. In 
            Columbus, she studied at Grant Hospital, graduating with a degree in 
            Nursing in 1928. While in nurses training she met Charles Leonard 
            Fletcher, who would become her husband of 58 years. 
            Milly worked as an RN in Rochester, N.Y., New York City and came to 
            Kingsport with Charles in 1933. She worked with the late Dr. L.C. 
            Cox delivering babies here in Kingsport. Milly taught Red Cross 
            classes during World War II. She was a member of the Kingsport 
            Junior Service League, and was active in the Women's League of 
            Voters. Milly volunteered her services as an RN for many years at 
            the Long Island Well Baby Clinic in Kingsport. She was a member of 
            the auxiliary at Holston Valley Community Hospital and was an active 
            member and communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. 
            Milly loved the gift of life, filling her days with volunteer work, 
            golf, bridge, reading, travel, family and friends. 
            Surviving are one son, Charles A. Fletcher and wife, Gerry, 
            Columbia, S.C.; one daughter, Sally Morrow and husband, Bob, 
            Kingsport; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 
            Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Kent room 
            of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with 
            the Rev. Suzanne N. Smitherman officiating.

            Lidge Gibson, Ft. Blackmore, Va.

            FT. BLACKMORE, Va. - George "Lidge" Gibson, Jr. went to meet his 
            Lord and Savior on Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001). 
            Born in Scott County, Va. on Dec. 1, 1932, he was the son of the 
            late George and Lorena Nickels Gibson. 
            He was well-known for his love and devotion to his family and was 
            always ready to help anyone in need. He was a member and deacon of 
            God House Independent Church. 
            In addition to his parents, a sister, Pauline Masey and brother, 
            Eugene Gibson, preceded him in death. 
               
            Surviving are his loving wife, Kate Gibson, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; sons 
            and daughters-in-law, George and Carolyn Gibson, Gale and Trish 
            Gibson and Jeff and Cherylene Gibson, all of Ft. Blackmore, Va., and 
            Jim and Tina Gibson, Gate City, Va.; nine grandchildren, Eddie Lee, 
            Michael Gibson, Tim Gibson and wife, Leslie, Jeffery Gibson, Josh 
            Gibson, Brittany Gibson, Richard Phipps, Cybil Phipps and Lindsey 
            Gibson; one great-grandchild, Timothy Blake Gibson; sisters, Phyllis 
            Sluss, Dungannon, Va., Kathleen Gillenwater, Clinchport, Va., Maxie 
            Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, Va., and Mary Adams, Kingsport; brothers,

            today at the residence of George and Carolyn Gibson and from 6 to 8

            Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Akers, the 
            Rev. Willie Neeley and the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating.

            Gibson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, Va.

            KINGSPORT - Stella Yonts Graham, 35, died Tuesday evening (Dec. 4, 
            2001) after injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

            Willie Junior Greer, 70, Surgoinsville.

            SURGOINSVILLE - Willie Junior Greer, 70, Stanley Valley Road, died 
            Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) following a brief illness. 
            He was born in Hawkins County on May 5, 1931. 
            He was preceded in death by his father, Mack Greer and his mother, 
            Gertrude Gilliam Greer. 
            Surviving are his wife, Emma Louise Greer of the home; son, Larry 
            Greer of Surgoinsville; daughter and son-in-law, Elvin (Judy) White 
            of Lexington, KY; brother, Garnie Greer of Church Hill; two sisters, 
            Beulah Lawson of Rogersville, Clara Greer of Surgoinsville; 
            Granddaughter, Sherry Cox; three great-granddaughters, Kanitha Cox, 
            Sierrah Cox, Bethany Cox; two special friends Ed and JoAnn Winegar; 
            several nieces and nephews.

            be with the Lord Wednesday morning (Dec. 5, 2001), will be conducted 
            at 7 p.m. today in the chapel of Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church 
            Hill, with Pastor Larry Morelock and the Rev. Calvin Tabor 
            officiating. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

            Jon Heller, 61, El Paso, Texas.

            EL PASO, Texas - Jon Lewis Heller, 61, passed away on Sunday (Dec. 
            2, 2001) after a valiant battle with cancer. 
            His positive attitude and spirit served as an inspiration to his 
            fellow cancer patients, his family and friends. 
            Jon, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend is survived by 
            his wife, Josefina (Fifi); son, Dareck; his parents, Harriet and 
            Joseph Heller; brothers, Robert (June), Richard (Andy), and Gary 
            Heller. He is also survived by his loving extended family, Gloria 
            Gelfand, Louis J. and Marian Gelfand and Jacqueline and Jeff 
            Elliott. 
            Born in Kingsport, Jon was a resident of El Paso for the last 31 
            years. He owned and operated Kern Place Florist. He was a caring 
            member of our community. He was a former member of the Chamizal 
            Rotary Club and the Westside Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris 
            Fellow. He was a member of the Borderline Woodturners, and past 
            president of both the El Paso Floral Allied and Temple Mt. Sinai 
            Men's Club. He was also a member of the West Texas-New Mexico 
            Florist, N.M. State Florist and Texas State Florist Associations. 
            Known for his ponytail, Jon loved the outdoors, particularly fishing 
            and skiing. He expressed his love for art through his woodturning, 
            art collections, photography, and floral designs. Jon was always 
            surrounded by loving friends and family - he had a joy for life that 
            was contagious. His wonderful smile, contagious laugh, and 
            mischievous pranks were a hallmark. Jon was a gentle and special 
            man. 
            Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Mt. Sinai.

            Branch, Walter Chayes, Bruce Hubbard and James Arthur Lyle will 
            serve as pallbearers.

            Walter E. Hickman, 54, Kingsport. 

            KINGSPORT - Walter E. Hickman, 54, of 1184 Moreland, passed away 
            Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) after a lengthy illness. 
            He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He was a veteran of 
            the Vietnam Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. 
            He was a former employee of Vulcan Materials. 
            He was preceded in death by his mother, Elva Conkin; and stepfather, 
            Buster Conkin. 
            Surviving are one son, Edward Mack Hickman, Kingsport; one 
            granddaughter, Whitney Hickman; half-sister, Cherlee Simpson; 
            half-brothers, Vincent Hite, Kingsport, and Haskell Hite, Michigan; 
            special friends, Regina Drennen, Ron Jones and Ricky Larkins. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral 
            Home, downtown and anytime at the home of the half-sister, Cherlee 
            Simpson, 7164 Lonestar Road.

            Hubert H. Rowland, 83, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Hubert H. Rowland, 83, 104 Ship Springs Road, died 
            Thursday evening at Church Hill Health Care.

            Funeral Home, downtown. 

            Juanita Stark, 77, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Mrs. Juanita W. Stark, 77, a beloved wife, precious 
            mother and special friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on 
            Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at her home with her family at her side. 
            Mrs. Stark moved to Knoxville in 1972, where she had been a member 
            of the Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church for 28 years. She was also 
            the missionary advocate for the Speak Out Sunday School Class, 
            member of the Women's Circle Number 3 and a very active member of 
            the church's cancer support group. 
            She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Jewel Flemon 
            Weaver. 
               
            Surviving are her husband, James P. Stark; one son, Kenneth A. 
            Stark, Louisiana; two daughters, Conti S. McMillin, Kingsport and 
            Kristy S. Mansfield, New York; grandchildren, Bradley Stark, Abbey 
            McMillin, Jake McMillin, Karli Mansfield, Taylor Mansfield, Megan 
            Mansfield. 
            A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Colonial 
            Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon F. Holstad 
            officiating. 
            Entombment will follow the memorial service at Oak Hill Mausoleum. 
            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Memorial 
            Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, N.Y. 10021.

            Lurrie Stigall, 74, Bristol, Tenn.

            BRISTOL, Tenn. - Lurrie Harrison Stigall, 74, 1715 Hwy. 126, died 
            Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) in Greystone Health Care. 
            She was the daughter of the late Amos and Donna Price Harrison and a 
            long time resident of Bristol living at her residence on Blountville 
            Hwy. since 1947. 
            She was a member of the First Church of God and a member of the 
            Ladies Missionary Society. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Stigall; and 
            two sisters, Thelma Fleenor and Lennie Harrison. 
            Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Jerry Hicks 
            and Jacalyn and Charles R. Brown, Bristol, Tenn.; one son and 
            daughter-in-law, Paul and Sonja Harrison, Blountville; four sisters, 
            Dot Widener, Nancy Hartsock, Audrey Boling and Jennie Eaton, all of 
            Bristol; three brothers, Robert Harrison, Bristol, Tenn., Dallas 
            Harrison, Blountville and J.C. Harrison, Abingdon, Va.; six 
            grandchildren, Jeryn Horne, Blakeley Brown, Lauren Hicks and 
            Matthew, Bobby and Annie Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.

            ROGERSVILLE - Services for Bobbie C. Trent, 95, who went to be with 
            the Lord Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today 
            in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the 
            Rev. Basil Jones and the Rev. Ed Roy Cuthrell officiating. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. 
            Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Highland 
            Cemetery.
