"ROE WEBB 1865-1956 Roe Webb, 90, lifelong resident of Van Lear, died Tuesday, afternoon Feb.28 1956, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Shade Ward, in Van Lear, following an illness of six weeks. Born April 17, 1865, the son of the late William and Isabelle Music Webb, he was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death June 12 1945, by his wife. Surviving are five sons, John Webb, Boons Camp; Curtis and Calvin Webb, both of Van Lear; Ottis Webb, Wabash, Ind.; and Ocal (Jake) Webb, Meally; five daughters, Mrs. Sara Hyden, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Elsie Ward, Van Lear; Mrs. Angie Lynn, Wabash, Ind.; Mrs. Laura Belle Phelps, West Van Lear; and Mrs. Fannie Webb, Mallory, W.Va.; one sister, Mrs. Susan Baldridge, East Point; 52 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday morning, February 24, at the Upper Millers Creek School, with S.C. Honeycutt and J.H. Short as officiating minister. Burial was made in the Webb Cemetery at Van Lear under the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home. "RITES FOR MOTHER OF TEN JUNE 14TH Funeral services will be conducted Thursday (June 14, 1945) for Mrs. Martha Webb, 69, at her home at Upper Van Lear by Rev. S. C. Honeycutt of Auxier, Mrs. Webb passed away at a local hospital on June 12, (1945). She was the wife of Roe Webb and the daughter of Commodore and Lucinda Baldridge Goble. Besides her husband, she is survived by ten children, Mrs. Ballard Hyden, East Point, Mrs. Shade Ward, Jr., Van Lear, Mrs. Oliver Lynn, Van Lear, Mrs. Bruce Phelps, West Van Lear, Fanny Webb, Van Lear, John Webb, Boons Camp, Curtis Webb, Van Lear, Calvin Webb, Van Lear, Jacob Webb, Meally, Ottis Webb, Freehold, N.J. One son, Caney, preceded her in death 16 years ago, and one infant daughter also preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Isom Hatfield, Clinch, West Va., and Mrs. Tom Robinson, West Van Lear, three brothers, James and Buck Goble, Ronda, W.
