The Singhaus family originates in Brettach, Württemberg, Germany with Michael Senghaas born in 1565. The Senghaas family stayed in Brettach for 3 centuries, and still exists spread out over Germany. The Singhaus line continued when Johann Kaspar Senghaas and George Michael Senghaas emigrated to America in 1749 and 1754 respectively. Johann Kaspar settled in Mt. Joy Township of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and became known as Casper Senghaas. George Michael settled in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania and became known as Michael Senghaas.
