This outlines our WHETTON line and the NEWBOLD connection. Until about ...
the name was usually WETTON and the origin was probably the village of that name
in Staffs, north west of Ashbourne.
The
WHETTON and NEWBOLD lines are provisional and I am grateful to other researchers
including Rae Austen, Jim Whetton and Robert Burns for providing information which I will
use to correct some of this. The NEWBOLD connection is that several WHETTONs were
descendants of NEWBOLDs and continued to use the NEWBOLD name.
