Much of the information on the McMaster Family originally came from a book "McMaster Family 1853-1980—Family Tree and Notes of John & Catherine McMaster and Their Descendants 1852-1980, 127 Years" compiled and written by Norma J Rutherford Daughter of Dougald & Thelma McMaster. The information was originally provided to Norma by various family members and the book published on the occasion of a McMaster reunion held at Ballarat in 1980. Since then the information has been extensively verified, corrected and added to.
Note that McMaster is also spelt MacMaster in some records so the spelling has been "standardised" to McMaster throughout this web site. This variation is probably an issue for all those with Scottish ancestry.
