St John's Cemetery (Kalpally) Bangalore India

In November 2003 Cheryl and Graeme Simpson visited India for the first time accompanied by Cheryl's parents and cousins from Canada. They visited the St John's Christian Cemetery (Kalpally) Bangalore to visit the graves of Thomas Killoway, Cheryl's paternal grandfather and Abraham Killoway her paternal Great Grandfather. We easily found the graves in this neatly kept cemetery.

The cemetery is at the back of a very large Roman Catholic cemetery and is accessed by the road which runs down the side of the cemeteries. We initially started looking in the Catholic Cemetery until we saw the sign to St John's pointing down the side road.

There was a headstone for Thomas but nothing on Abraham's grave. The headstone for Thomas read:

THOMAS KILLOWAY
BORN JULY 7, 1902
FELL ASLEEP DECEMBER 31, 1941
"NEAR TO THE HEART OF GOD"
