  General notes:

Clockmaker

  Events in his life were:

  • Master to John Fitch 1760-1761 in East Hartford CT. Though bound to learn the clockmaking trade, Fitch was put to work tilling his master's fields instead. Disgusted with his treatment, Fitch left to train under Benjamin's brother, Timothy, from whom he learned the trade of brass and wooden clockmaking and watchmaking. He bought his freedom in 1764 and struck off on his own.

Benjamin married Deborah Olcott. (Deborah Olcott was born in 1738 in East Hartford CT, christened on 12 Nov 1738 in East Hartford CT and died on 3 Nov 1817 in Berlin CT.)
