  Events in his life were:

• Master to Ira Strong Towne abt 1825 in Montpelier VT. ¹

• Master to Josiah Towne abt 1815 in Montpelier VT. ¹

• On birth certificates of his sons, his occupation was referred to as "jeweller," but on his death certificate, "merchant." There has been doubt that he was a silversmith, though he was master to his two sons, both of whom were. ³

Josiah married Mary French on 6 Oct 1797 in Keene NH. (Mary French was born on 28 Feb 1780 in Keene NH.)
