  Events in his life were:

  • Saint Johnsbury VT, 27 Feb 1856: moved at the conclusion of his apprenticeship in 1856 to St. Johnsbury and opened a clock and watchmaking business. He advertised his wares and expertise as a watchmaker, as well as a silversmith and engraver, especially in the coffin plate line. In 1857, ill health forced him to close his shop and move to Haynesville AL, establishing a business there, as had his uncle John. 16
