• Appointed Officer in Custom House in New Haven CT.

• He was a partner from 1826 to 1840 with Zebul Bradley in New Haven CT as BRADLEY & MERRIMAN ⁴

• He worked from 1840 to 1860 as a hardware merchant and manufacturer in New Haven CT

Marcus married Mary Hotchkiss, daughter of Hezekiah Hotchkiss, on 12 Sep 1813 in New Haven CT. (Mary Hotchkiss was born on 18 Mar 1793 in Middlesex CT and died on 29 Mar 1855.)

Marcus next married Nancy Hood, daughter of Elizabeth Bonticou, on 18 Dec 1855 in New Haven CT. (Nancy Hood was born about 1796 and died on 17 Apr 1884 in New Haven CT.)
