• His uncle Samuel bequeathed him "a thimble stamp and a swage for tea and large spoons as a token of my respect to him."

In the manuscript book "Poems, chiefly Descriptive," written by Samuel Davis of Plymouth during 1789-1808, he includes "Joseph Edwards (died 1783 age 45)" with "The eldest of the trade [silver] whom I now recollect. . . . " 3
