General notes: Silversmith and watchmaker Events in his life were: • Master to William Quimby abt 1805 in Belfast ME. • He moved to Belfast in 1805 and was the earliest watch and clockmaker there. Shop at northeast corner of Main and High Streets, later the house formerly owned by Capt. James Douglas on site of Pierce's block. He was succeeded in business by William Quimby. Appears also as "Abel" in Belfast references. 3 Abiel married Sarah Chandler, daughter of Timothy Chandler and Sarah Abbott, on 11 Oct 1808 in Belfast ME. (Sarah Chandler was born on 11 Feb 1791 in Concord NH and died on 25 Apr 1856 in Belfast ME.) |
