General notes: Silversmith and clockmaker Events in his life were: • He worked from circa 1803 to 1804 as a silversmith and clockmaker in Elizabethtown NJ • He was a partner from 1804 to 1805 with Ezra Woodruff in Elizabethtown NJ as DAWES & WOODRUFF. • Advertised in the New Jersey Journal (Elizabeth NJ), 1804, announcing that "The subscribers take this method of informing the Public that they have entered into a line of their profession under the firm name of Dawes and Woodruff, in Elizabethtown, at the shop formerly occupied by Robinson Thomas as a store, where they carry on the different branches of Watch and Clock Making and Silver- Plating on the most accommodating terms; and they flatter themselves by a steady attention to business, they will receive a proportionate share of the liberality of the Public. • He worked from circa 1805 to 1814 as a silversmith and clockmaker in Elizabethtown NJ William married Sarah Miller, daughter of Robert Miller and Sarah Kennedy. (Sarah Miller was born in Essex NJ.) |
