General notes: Silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker Events in his life were: • Apprenticed abt 1812 in Farmington CT. • He worked from circa 1820 to 1822 as a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker in Farmington CT as a journeyman in the shop of Nathaniel Olmsted. 14 • He was a partner from circa 1823 to 1832 with Willis Catlin in Augusta GA as J. & W. CATLIN, from a stand on the north side of Broad Street, between McIntosh and Washington. 14 • He worked from 1832 to 1835 as a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker in Jacksonville IL • He worked from after 1835 to 1849 as a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker in Augusta, Hancock, IL 14 • He worked from 1850 to 1870 as a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker in Jacksonville IL Joel married Calista Hawley on 30 Sep 1820 in Farmington CT. (Calista Hawley was born on 8 Jan 1797 in Farmington CT and died in 1875.) |
