• Apprenticed in 1768 to Abel Buell in Killingworth CT ³
Fleeing with his master to Florida in 1774-1776.

• He worked from 1782 to 1796 as a silversmith in Litchfield CT ³

• He worked from 1782 to 1796 as a silversmith in Litchfield CT ³

• He was a partner from 1796 to 1805 with Isaac Thompson in Litchfield CT as SHETHAR & THOMPSON. Originally the firm was at "the Red Shop located few rods west of the meeting house." ³

Engraved A present from M^r / Josiah Bronson / to the Church of Crist [sic], in / Middlebury / Æ 88 on the front and Given / Sep^t / AF 1800 / price / £ 2 = 6 = 0. A matching cup was also given to the church by Josiah's brother Isaac. Shethar's name is engraved somewhat crudely on the bottom.

• He was a partner from 1806 to 1809 with Richard Gorham in New Haven CT as SHETHAR & GORHAM. Shop on west side of High St. on land leased from Isaac Townsend. Partners sold the lease in 1809. ³
