• He was a partner from 1880 to 1890 with Joseph Roberts and Wallace Kenyon in Hartford CT as E. M. ROBERTS & SON. At the firm's failure, its assets and factory were taken over by WILLIAM ROGERS MANUFACTURING Co.

• Advertised in the Hartford City Directory (Hartford CT), 1880, as "Manufacturer of Solid Silver and Plated Ware of All Kinds, Old Ware Replated, Hollow Ware Repaired."

• He appeared on the 1880 census taken at Hartford CT, listed as a spoon maker.
