General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • An officer in Revolutionary War and one of the defenders of Danbury when the British burned that city Apr. 27, 1777. Represented Danbury in the General Assembly for 23 years and died suddenly while attending a session of the General Assembly in New Haven. His funeral sermon was delivered by President Dwight of Yale College in New Haven. 3 • Appointed in 1778 as Lieutenant Colonel on Militia in Danbury CT • Master to Comfort Starr Mygatt abt 1780 in Danbury CT. 1 • Appointed from 1784 to 1807 as Representative to the General Assembly from Danbury in Danbury CT 3 • Master to David Mygatt abt 1790 in Danbury CT. 1 • He was a partner from 1793 to 1807 with Dr. Daniel Noble Carrington and Najah Taylor in Danbury CT with shop and store located on Main Street. 3 • Appointed from 1796 to 1804 as Town Clerk in Danbury CT 3 Eli married Abigail Starr in Oct 1759 in Danbury CT. (Abigail Starr was born in 1740 in Ridgefield Warren CT, died on 21 Nov 1767 in Danbury CT and was buried in Danbury CT.) Eli next married Phebe Judson on 6 Jul 1769 in Danbury CT. (Phebe Judson was born on 16 Aug 1746 in Newington CT and died on 13 Aug 1783.) |
