Sent originally to establish a southern outlet for his father's pewter and britannia business, he opened his own firm and developed a large and profitable business.

• He worked c 1865 as a merchant in New York City NY as the city agent for SIMPSON< HALL< MILLER & Co.

• He was a partner from 1866 to 1898 with Samuel Simpson, ? Hall, Gurdon W. Hall, and Friend Miller in Wallingford CT as SIMPSON, HALL, MILLER & Co. Became, in 1898, one of the founding members of International Silver. ¹⁰

• He appeared on the 1880 census taken at Wallingford CT, listed as a britannia manufacturer.

Charles married Mary Culver on 3 Dec 1834 in Wallingford CT. (Mary Culver was born about 1814 in Wallingford CT and died on 28 Apr 1888.)
