General notes: Silversmith and watchmaker Events in his life were: • He worked from 1830 to 1855 as a silversmith and watchmaker in Montpelier VT 6 • Advertised in the Vermont Watchman & State Gazette (Montpelier VT), 14 Nov 1831, offering his services as a watchmaker and silversmith. His shop was opposite the bank on State Street and he constantly stocked silver goods of the first quality, made by hand. 6 • Advertised in the Vermont Watchman & State Journal (Montpelier VT), 12 May 1843, announcing his purchase of the entire stock of his son, John S. Abbott. 6 • Advertised in the Vermont Patriot (Montpelier VT), 17 Mar 1853, announcing that J. S. Abbott would take charge of the watch work in the shop of Samuel Abbott at his new location in E. P. Walton's building on State Street. 6 Samuel married Jane Day on 5 Mar 1813 in Concord NH. |
