John Hallam
General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • Advertised in 1773 (New London CT), "At his shop near the signpost, makes and sells all kinds of goldsmith's and jewelers's work as cheap as can be had in this Colony." 3
• Mug, c 1775 • Engraved plates for bills of credit for the Colony in 1775. Lost rather heavily when New London was burned by the British in 1781. The inventory of his estate mentioned a quantity of silver -- tankards, porringers, pepper pot, sugar bowls, spoons, etc. -- but nothing of tools. 3 John married Elizabeth Prentice in 1785. (Elizabeth Prentice was born in 1768 in New London CT, died in 1850 and was buried in 1850.) |
