    The mark is on a spoon at Winterthur, which gives it, in its online database, to an Amos Whitney; Belden gives it (the same spoon) to Asa Whitney, which is presumed to be the correct attribution.
  • He worked from 1798 to 1812 as a silversmith and watchmaker in New York City NY the New York City Directory lists his shop at 104 Gold Street in 1798; 27 Roosevelt Street from 1799 to 1801; 274 Water Street from 1802 to 1803; 290 Water Street from 1804 to 1806; and 338 Water Street from 1807 to 1811. His widow continued the business at his death. 18
