  • He worked c 1860 as a silverplater and britannia worker in Northford CT
    Originally a manufacture of ivory, stone, and britannia buttons. He later opened the first factory producing shredded and dried cocoanut. He used the split shells as bowls for making novelty ladles with cast britannia handles.
  • He appeared on the 1870 census taken at North Branford CT, listed as a farmer and manufacturer.
  • He appeared on the 1880 census taken at Huntington CT, occupation listed as "Cocoanut Dippers."
  • He was a partner from 1890 to 1896 with Douglas Fowler Maltby, Elizur Seneca Stevens, and John Curtiss in Wallingford CT as MALTBY, STEVENS & CURTISS. The partners were bought out by Watrous Manufacturing and the company became a part of International Silver in 1898.

Eraphras married Hannah Smith Hoadley on 8 Apr 1851. (Hannah Smith Hoadley was born on 27 Dec 1829 in Worcester MA.)
